About us

Our Virtual Education Conferences are the cornerstone of our annual educational program, developed in collaboration with the Harvard Global Orthopaedics Collaborative and SONA Global. Designed to provide practical, case-based learning, these conferences aim to support surgeons and trainees, particularly those working in resource-constrained environments.

Our Learning Approach

We take a unique “flipped classroom” model to learning. Participants engage with pre-recorded lectures on orthopaedic and trauma surgery topics at their own pace, allowing them to come prepared for live, interactive discussions. These discussions focus on clinical cases, where participants apply their learning to real-world scenarios.

Before each live session, we release a Course Curriculum (here is an example). The Core (2-4 pre-recorded lectures, 1-3 articles) is recommended for all learners to review before the live session. We pre-record lectures and translate them into French and Spanish. The Full Curriculum contains extras, all provided free from our partners, aimed at supporting early career learners.

Case-Based Discussions

After reviewing the pre-recorded materials, participants join live case-based discussions. These sessions feature cases managed by surgeons working in resource-limited settings, providing valuable insights into the challenges and solutions faced in these environments. A diverse panel of faculty members leads the discussions, sharing foundational knowledge, technical advice, and creative approaches to managing difficult cases. We encourage active participation from attendees, fostering a collaborative learning atmosphere.

Global Community & Focused Topics

Our conferences serve a growing global community of learners—currently around 3,500 individuals from 125 countries. The topics covered in our educational program are chosen by our community members to ensure relevance and impact. This collaborative approach ensures that the content addresses the real-world needs and challenges faced by orthopaedic professionals worldwide.

Our Mission

We are committed to three core objectives:

  1. Enhancing Knowledge: Improving participants’ understanding of orthopaedic and trauma management principles.
  2. Fostering Global Discussion: Promoting international dialogue about orthopaedic and trauma care delivery, particularly in resource-limited settings.
  3. Supporting the Next Generation: Motivating and empowering the younger generation of orthopaedic providers, especially those practicing in underserved environments.
